I have questions that need answers!
Why are kids who have grown up in Christian homes, with Christian parents, the ones who sometimes have THE most problems with their passion for God?
It does not make sense to me!
We are the ones who have had all the advantage in the world, and yet we allow ourselves to become lukewarm and complacent!
I dont understand it...
:) These are the things I spend long hours contemplating...
I like your thoughts Jazz.
ReplyDeleteIf your parents are christian, it doesn't necessarily follow that you will be a christian too. You should make a personal choice to become one, as our salvation is a personal experience. You should thank God for giving you christian parents so that it will now be easy for you to know Him more through your parents.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is true, you do need to have a personal relationship. But, I see so many kids that say that they do have a personal relationship, and I would say that they were "saved" and yet I dont see them taking advantage of the fact that they have a christian home where they are loved and encouraged. I want to see their passion and fire! And yet, soooo many kids settle for being lukewarm. :/
ReplyDeleteThis is so true...I feel like kids who grow up in Christian homes (I'm definitely one) sometimes don't experience that life without Christ, so we might not fully appreciate it like someone who has been through the fire and come out holding God's hand. Look at Paul; he experienced some of the worst before having the best. Unfortunately, we develop a stale relationship because of our sinful nature. That constant frustration of sin...even when we know that God has seperated our sins as far as the east is from the west, we still seperate ourselves from him because of them. I think of the verse Paul uses about (paraphrasing) "what i wish to do, i do not do; but what i do not wish to do, that is what i do." So difficult. Pray for strength and passion!
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a comment Joseph. I totally hear you. Sometimes I feel that groeing up in a Christian home is almost a disadvantage... stats say that if you grow up in that kind of safe enviroment, then you are less likely to be on fire for God. I once heard it said that "A kid from a Christian background who is blazing a trail for God is a miracle indeed"
ReplyDeleteYeah I could believe it. the one nice thing is I feel like your foundation can be stronger as a long-term believer. You're familiar with the facts, and you know what's right. It's just sometimes you get "burnt out" for lack of better words. Which is pitiful; how can you get burned out on God?? Nevertheless, it happens. Yet we always come crawling back, just like the Israelites. And God still takes us back, dusts us off, and sets us back on our feet. Thank God for that :) and you learn from those lows. God takes our every action and turns it for good and for his glory
ReplyDeleteOh, I do agree with you for sure. I definitely am thankful for the knowledge and faith I have had the opportunity to build up. Hmm... haha and I honestly dont know how you can get burnt out on God. Like hello!? How does that work? He is everlasting fresh water! :) Another good thing about a strong background/foundation is that you are more able to share with others, and you are more capable of really living it out- because you know what its about and what it takes to follow Christ.
