So I don't know if you have ever encountered a problem like this, but I find it happens very often. It has happened to me many times, and I think its very aggravating...
When alot of older people or grown-ups hear about what you do at church or how committed you are to God, act like your beliefs are based out of being naive and that once you come to grips with "the real world" you will drop your "fantasy filled faith" called Christianity. I have had people act like they are "playing along" with my so-called game. They say they know that one day I will grow out of my goody-two-shoes, Sunday school fase and realize that religion is for little kids or people who are weak.
Well, if you have never had this happen to you, let me tell you it is very frustrating and somewhat patronizing. But let me get to my point...
The reason most unsaved people have this view is because this scenario is very common among the young people of our generation. Young people are graduating high school or moving onto life on their own, and they let themselves be drawn into what the world offers. They let themselves be allured into tantalizing sinful desires. They forget or forsake their faith and then belittle you for "still needing religion". Unfortunately this happens to many more teenagers and young people than those who stay loyal to Jesus. So what can we do?
Well, for starters, we need to be one of those committed people who looks into their own life and makes sure that we are not just doing "the church thing", or "the youth group thing", but that we are really grounded in our love for Jesus. Only after that can you really try to talk to your friends about it. That is why it is so important that you love Jesus or are a Christian for the right reasons and that its Not Your Parent's Faith, but your own.
You have to own it or you'll never be able to spread it!
