Heavenly Hunger

So I have been doing some fasting, and it makes me feel very hungry. My body urges me to eat food. I have pangs of hunger where it seems that food is calling my name. Being without food made me ponder the following questions....

What does it mean to be hungry?

Websters dictionary defines "hunger" as something that is: "strongly motivating (as by ambition)"

So... with that line of thinking...what would it mean if we were hungry for God?
What would that look like? What would a person who is hungry for God look like, talk like, walk like?
How can you tell when someone is spiritually hungry?

I have been challenged today to be more hungry for God- and not to be so hungry for the things of this world. We constantly try to fill our spiritual stomachs with things that will not fill us- movies, videogames, boyfriends, girlfriends, school, drama, etc. What if God became MORE important than any of those other things?

God wants us to hunger for more of Him! He promises to fill whoever is hungry... and c'mon, lets get real- nothing can replace the life of God's Spirit! God never runs out of filling, only people to fill. I think that it SHOULD be natural for us to have hunger pangs for God's touch and healing. We should feel the ambition and motivation to be nourished by Him and Him alone. Jesus says that he is the "bread of life" meaning that only He can fill us with heavenly food. I want to yearn after God's heart and be hungry for His Word.

Let's starve for MORE of God!
Are ya hungry? :)
